Watseka is a community thriving on  the challenge of successfully merging agriculture and agriculture-related businesses with industry and retail business. Watseka, the county seat, is the largest community in Iroquois County, which is the third-largest county in the state. Iroquois County consistently ranks in the top four counties in the U.S. in corn and soybean production. Watseka is within 60-80 miles of four business and agricultural centers . . Chicago... Champaign... Bloomington... and Lafayette Indiana, and is blessed with sound financial institutions, an excellent  school system, a variety of churches and excellent transportation facilities linking big city businesses with small town commerce.

The road unwinds southward out of Chicago and you leave the crowds, the noise and traffic behind. Now beautiful images of of the midwest unfold before you - fertile farmland, in strips varying from shades of green and gold. You pass through an occasional small yet prosperous little town, and you notice that it feels good to take a deep breath of fresh country air in the wide open spaces, After about an hour or so, another city comes into view. As you drive into town, you  notice the busy downtown business district, the beautiful homes on tree-lined streets, the huge parks and friendly people. You pull into a parking spot and thankfully notice there is no meter, so you keep the change to use at the local coffee shop.

Watseka has the life many people dream of but don't achieve in the crowded, busy skyscraper atmosphere of today's metropolitan areas. Now is the time to change all that. Watseka has no rush hours, You don't have to leave work to catch the subway or the train or even car pool for a grueling ride home. You leave work to catch a ball with your kids at the little league or softball diamond or for a cookout with the family or maybe for a late afternoon walk in the park to feed the ducks.
